"Between Two Rivers", follows a collaboration between the Chôros Lab at the EPFL and Lucy Mackintosh Gallery to engage with cartography studies through science, technology and the aesthetics.
The work is inspired by places from the Al Istalhry map, and by the idea that space has been left out. Touched by recent droughts caused by a lack of rain and snow melt in the mountains of Turkey, the work aims to link the left out notion of space to this ecological threat. While the landscape and urban images of the Euphrates' and Tigris' banks were downloaded from the internet, their composition was digitally recreated to seek out a new representational model that speak of wide patches and drying earth.
